On Oct 10, 2022, Dean Leo announced the opportunity to enroll in the Engineering and Computing Pathways: UGA Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion.
The Certificate course sessions consist of one Core Course and five special topic (common) elective course modules and will take 12 hours in total. There are no costs for the participants to join.
Please notice:
- It is NOT a requirement to complete the core course (Beyond the Numbers) before the elective courses. Faculty should register for any courses that fit into their schedule.
- You can take any elective courses within the diversity certificate curriculum; it does not have to be only the five electives that were organized by College of Engineering.
The College’s goal is having 90% of faculty and staff achieving certification by December 2024.
There are two ways to join:
(1) With the College of Engineering sessions: There are sessions will be offered to faculty, staff, postdocs, and doctoral students from all programs within the College of Engineering. This format will enable the participants to jointly explore the application of DEI concepts to the teaching, research, and service missions of the college, as well as create a stronger common understanding of the benefits of diversity and contribute to enhancing the culture of inclusion in our community. Watch for emails from Sonia. You may register as a participant by emailing your name, title, email, phone number, and course you want to register for to diversitytraining@uga.edu.
(2) Register through the Professional Education Portal: Professional Education Portal (PEP) is a cutting-edge tool to support your professional development and research-related educational needs at the University of Georgia.
